The four keys to effective ads

Some marketing messages have to be short and sweet; like in advertising. “So what do you put into a short marketing message?” You may be wondering. There are a couple of things to put into an ad campaign:

  • The item you wish to sell
  • An image relating to the product or business
  • A tag line
  • A call to action

The first two are obvious. But a tag line and a call to action? What is the difference? You may be wondering. A tag line is a one-line slogan that the business uses to be memorable. For example, Nike’s “just do it” with the swish (logo). A call to action is a statement asking someone to do something to further the sales cycle. For example, “call us today for your free estimate.” In essence, “Do this action and you will receive your reward” (i.e. “call us” is the action; today implies urgency, and the reward is “free estimate”).

And that’s all you need.
