Scarcity marketing relies solely on the customer’s fear that they’re going to miss out on the product or great deal on said product or service.
As a result, some people who have defeatist thinking end up thinking “there’s no point in buying that, I won’t be able to get it again when I run out!”
So scarcity marketing can backfire on businesses that rely on repeat sales, and as a result, sales can nosedive.
Instead of using scarcity marketing, use deadlines on sales along with the phrase “quantities available while stock lasts”. This gives people the confidence that they’ll be able to get the product they want, while the marketing and sales manager is satisfied by using urgency tactics in their marketing.
